Artistic Biking When my family and I decided to see the Arts and Crafts fair at Bellevue Square we walked and rode our bikes. It only took ten minutes, but those who chose to drive were stuck in traffic and they seemed like turtles compared to us.
Second Car – Rental Style My 2-adult, 2-children household has one small station-wagon. I bicycle or take public transportation to work. When we need an additional vehicle, we rent it. This costs considerably less than owning two cars.
Scenic Bus Trip My family agreed to take the bus to Kirkland on the weekend. Not everybody was keen on the idea, but the trip turned out to be exciting and fun. We love the nice scenery, which we usually miss because we're keeping an eye on the road.
Get Your Heart Rate Going! I find a walk to Crossroads from my house gives me a needed bit of exercise and saves money on car and gas. It's a good idea!
Three Trips into One I made a list of all the errands I had to go on and saw that I could combine the trips to the library, the hardware store and the post office on the same trip.
Park and Ride Rendezvous Rather than take separate vehicles to the Seattle Center, our group of two grandmas, two mommies and five children met at the Park & Ride and took the bus. We'll use it again!
Senior Shopper Buses Up Hill, Walks the Flat Often I walk to Crossroads to shop. If my shopping bundle is too heavy, I go home by using my senior bus pass to go up the hill on 8th and then walk on the flat street (164th) to get home.
