The City of Bellevue launched the Wilburton-Grand Connection study initiative in December of 2015 with the goal of transforming the urban fabric of Bellevue by crafting a new vision for the Wilburton Commercial Area and establishing new means of connectivity with the Grand Connection. In support of the Wilburton Land Use re-visioning the City will form a citizen's advisory committee (CAC) to play a crucial role in advising and making recommendations to City Council for the future of the study area.
The study of the Wilburton commercial area will provide a sweeping new vision for an area that has received substantial improvements in transportation and infrastructure in recent years. Capitalizing on its proximity and connectivity to the high-growth areas of downtown and BelRed, Wilburton is poised to serve as the next great urban neighborhood of Bellevue. With the forthcoming light rail and Grand Connection, Wilburton's enhanced connectivity will help generate the need for a new land use vision, improved amenities, and an opportunity to establish a unique identity and character that compliments its context and prominence.
The CAC will assist in crafting the land use, urban design, and transportation recommendations for the Wilburton Commercial Area. The City is actively searching for residents and stakeholders to serve on the advisory committee. The CAC will consist of approximately 12 members and will meet monthly for approximately 12 months, with meetings expected to begin in October of 2016.
If you are interested in lending your time and expertise to the project, and are a not a commercial property owner within the study area, we ask that you briefly respond to the following questions by Tuesday August 30th, 2016. Your answers will assist in the selection process, and advancing a new vision for the Wilburton Commercial Area. The CAC will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council in September of 2016.
