It is easy to use an ORCA card to pay your transit fare! Tap your ORCA card on the card reader to automatically deduct the correct fare and keep track of transfers. Using an ORCA card is also fast, which makes the boarding process quicker for everyone.

ORCA cards work for seven regional transit agencies: King County Metro, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, Pierce Transit, Kitsap Transit and the Washington State Ferries.

Where to get an ORCA card

You can use a ticket vending machine at Bellevue Transit Center or one of other transit hubs to buy or add value to a regular adult ORCA card. You can also buy and add value to regular adult ORCA cards at any of these retail locations, which include some QFC and Safeway stores in Bellevue.

ORCA options for individuals

  • E-purse

    • Works like cash deducted from your ORCA card "wallet".

    • You can add value to your account by calling the ORCA call center (1-888-988-6722 TTY Relay: 711), online, at a ticket vending machineor at an ORCA retail locations.

    • If you add value online or by phone, make sure to do so 48 hours before you'll need to use your card - it can take that long to update your card with the funds. 

    • If you don't tap your card within 60 days of adding value online or by phone, the system freezes your ORCA card. You can call the ORCA call center at the phone number above to have the value reactivated.

  • Monthly passes (also loaded onto your ORCA card)

    • You can buy a monthly PugetPass that works for six transit agencies: Metro Transit, Everett Transit, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit and Sound Transit. 

    • Monthly passes are for a calendar month and vary in cost based on the fare value of the pass. Many commuters require the peak fare. Ensure that you purchase your pass according to the appropriate geographic zone; the City of Seattle is one zone, and the rest of King County is another. Costs are as follows:

      • Peak fare for one zone is $2.75 per ride ($99 per month)

      • Peak fare for two zones is $3.25 per ride ($117 per month)

    • Generally, you will save money on a monthly pass if you ride more than 36 times per month.

    • Many employers and institutions provide free or subsidized passes, so check with your employer or organization.

  • Reduced-fare passes

  • Regional day passes 

    • You can load an ORCA card with a full day pass for $8.

      • $4 for seniors or disabled riders with an RRFP.

      • Check the cost of your planned routes before you buy a day pass; quite a few trips may be required before it pays for itself.
